This is where Lee’s gore mongering and incredible inventiveness really shine. City Infernal chronicles her journey through the Mephistopolis, the capital city of Hell, in glorious detail. She discovers that there is a gateway to Hell in her new house and embarks on a journey into Hell, to save her sister’s damned soul. I’ll try to explain that statement.Ĭassie is a 20 something goth girl who’s just moved to a sprawling old house in the country with her father. In some ways, to me, it’s less a horror novel than a fantasy one. Except for City Infernal, which was just all the way through amazing. But I’ve had sort of mixed reactions to what I’ve read of his. He is known as a splatter guy, lots of gore, lots of gross out. He was friends with Richard Laymon and Jack Ketchum and did several collaborative projects with them. Edward Lee is an interesting writer to me.
